THREADING FAQS

Q: Is threading better than waxing?

  •   We recommend threading for eyebrows and wax for rest of the facial areas followed by some threading to finish  for a smooth look. For the remainder of the body we only provide waxing services. We use very high quality wax and maintain the highest hygienic standard.

Q: Does threading take hair from the root?

  • Yes threading takes hair from the root. With threading you can take a single hair or a row of hairs all by the root which is why threading provides great results for eyebrows.

Q: Does threading cause my hair to come back thicker or darker?

  • No threading will not make your hair come back thicker or darker. If anything it may reduce hair growing back over time.

Q: Does threading or waxing hurt more?

  • Most people find threading to be less painful than waxing. It is individual but over time your body adjusts to either method and it becomes more routine. One benefit of threading over waxing is that it won’t remove layers of skin like waxing might if you are on any acne medications.

WAXING FAQS

Q: How long, or short, should my hair be for waxing?

  • The hair should be at least 1/4-inch to 1/2-inch ( 3 weeks after shaving) for best results. We cannot wax if the hair is too short and it will hurt more if the hair is too long. Please trim your hair the day of your appointment if it is too long with Scissors.

Q: WHEN CAN’T I WAX?

  • We cannot wax you if you fall under any of the following categories:

  1. You are using any Retinol products i.e. Retin A, Renova etc. on your bikini line or brow area.

  2. You are using Accutane.

  3. You have any kind of sunburn, laser burn, pustules or breakouts on the area to be waxed.

Q: How often should I get my waxing treatment?

  • Every three to six weeks. Regular waxing is essential. The skin will be less sensitive if waxing is done every 3 to 6 weeks. Over time, with regular waxing, the hair follicle will have less and less of a grip on the hair to be pulled and the hairs will come out more easily. Another reason to wax frequently is that you may even experience less hair growth over time.

Q: Can I shave between waxing appointments?

  • No. Please do not shave between waxing appointments! It disrupts the hair growth cycle resulting in more hair at your next appointment

Q: Do you numb the skin before a wax, when you get a brazilian wax or bikini?

  • Unfortunately, there is no effective way to numb the skin before a waxing treatment. However, at Purele we use specific wax types for different body parts to make your experience as comfortable as possible!

Q: Can I go tanning before or after my waxing session?

  • Plan on waiting at least 24 hours after your treatment to tan. And do not come in right after a fresh spray tan because the wax will take it right off.

Q: Can I get waxed while I am on my period?

  • Sure, simply wear a fresh tampon. just know you are more sensitive three days before your period and three days after your period

Q: Can I take pain killers before my waxing?

  • At Purele, we recommend not to take any pain medication or alcohol before your waxing service.please let our technicians know if you are on any medication or have any allergies.

Q: .What is Histamine Reaction?

  •  First off, experiencing a histamine reaction does not mean that you are allergic to the wax  product. Creating histamine is one way the body protects itself against the stress of a perceived attack. A histamine reaction is easily identified by a rash that presents itself as welts or bumps. This reaction may happen immediately after your wax. Histamine is very helpful and it works by enlarging the blood vessels and making them easier to penetrate. The body then swells and protects the affected area. It is the increase in size of the blood vessels that also additionally creates erythema, which is reddening of the skin

Q. What is Bacterial reactions post waxing?

  • Bacterial reactions present themselves with tiny white pustules on the skin.  They look like whiteheads.  While a histamine reaction will present itself almost immediately, a bacterial reaction will generally take two to three days before it presents itself.

  • How long does it last?  The pustules can be irritating and last up to 2 weeks if not properly treated.

  • How to treat it?   The best way to treat it is by preventing it! Bacterial reactions happen when we touch our silky-smooth, freshly waxed skin. We advise our clients not to touch freshly waxed skin. If you are a man getting a chest or back wax, it's advisable to bring a clean shirt to change into after your treatment. We also recommend using an antibacterial/antimicrobial ointment to eliminate bacteria in the affected area (like Finipil). Abstaining from saunas, steam rooms, swimming pools, hot tubs, sexual activity, exercise, and anything that can introduce bacteria to the affected area for the first 24 hours after your wax is strongly advised.

FACIAL FAQS

Q: How often should I get facials?

  • Once monthly facials are recommended to help aid in the cell turn over process which happens approximately every 30 days. As we age, this cell turn over process slows down, contributing to dull sallow looking skin, fine lines, wrinkles, blackheads, congestion, and coarsely textured skin. Monthly facials assist your body in doing more efficiently what it is “supposed" to do on its own.

Q: What can I expect during a facial treatment?

  •  When you arrive, you will be asked to fill out a consultation form. Most facials consist of a double cleanse with steam, exfoliation, extractions with a skin analysis, facial and upper body massage, facial mask, and hydration. Depending on the facial and your skincare history, the exfoliation performed will vary. Different facial "add-on's" can be added to your treatment for a small additional fee. All facials are uniquely customized to target your specific skincare needs. Please see the Menu for more information on these add-ons and specific facials offered.

Q: Will my skin be red or irritated after my facial?

  • Slight redness is normal after a facial, especially if you've received any sort of exfoliant or received a large amount of extractions. Slight irritation may be experienced during these instances, however it should not continue after your facial treatment has been completed. Certain skin types, including those who tend to be more sensitive, may be prone to experiencing more redness post treatment.

Q: How can I maintain professional skincare results at home on a daily basis?

  • Dr.Spiller offers a wide range of exceptional at home skincare products available for purchase. With this brand you're sure to find the right product which targets all your skincare needs.

Q: Which facial is right for me?

  • Please view our Menu of Services to read a full description of all the facial and specialized add-on treatments available. Still not sure? Book a basic balancing Facial and our experienced aesthetician will perform a detail analysis of your skin and recommend  the most beneficial facial that would be customized specifically for you.

Q: What is a "series" of facials and why is it recommended?

  • A series of facials is the best way to jump start your skincare maintenance, especially if you're looking for positive results, fast! Facial series are generally offered in a series of six, performed once a week for six weeks, and are most effective when performed using a chemical exfoliant such as a glycolic or a lactic acid. (The exfoliant used will be determined based on your skincare history.)

Q: Can I receive a facial waxing such as an eyebrow or lip wax on the same day as my facial?

  • Yes! Waxing is always done first, prior to your facial, for the utmost comfort and safety of your skin. Although we do not recommend microdermabrasion treatment right after a full face wax.

Q: Do men get facials too?

  • Absolutely! Facials are very beneficial for men too, and can help reduce skin sensitivity from shaving as well as other concerns from lack of proper at home skincare. If you do suffer from sensitivity after shaving, it is recommended that you do not shave immediately before your facial, as this can lead to further irritation.

Q: What is diamond microdermabrasion?

  • Microdermabrasion is essentially powerful mechanical exfoliation with an expensive machine.  This method involves a diamond tipped head with a roughened surface. The head rubs against the skin in order to exfoliate. This method is one of the easiest and most effective anti-aging treatments you can get. Its benefits are many: microderm softens fine lines and wrinkles, helps to smooth coarsely textured skin, decreases the appearance of scarring, decreases pore size, and reduces superficial hyper-pigmentation, also known as age spots. Microdermabrasion also makes it easier for high-tech skin care products to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and help build collagen, which gives skin its youthful appearance.

Q: What is your Natural Chemical peel, does it have any down time like synthetic chemical peels?

  • OUR ALL-NATURAL LAYERED - salicylic/glycolic PEEL has no synthetic “chemicals’  therefore NO ‘down time’! It has three layers for a deep exfoliation. It helps control acne, reduce fine lines, hydrate skin, minimize scarring, brighten skin, and assists with hyper pigmentation to even skin tone. This treatment ends with an omega serum, for post-peel hydration.Your also receive FREE AFTER CARE PRODUCTS, So you continue to treat  your skin  till your next scheduled facial .

  • Effective treatment is not about destruction, but rather communication. Ingredients that communicate with the skin on a cellular level to instigate change and renewal, re-educate the skin to behave the way it did when it was younger.

  • We recommend a series of 5 treatments to get the ultimate result. When you book the series your last treatment is FREE.

EYELASH EXTENSIONS FAQ:

Q:What Are Eyelash Extensions?

  • Eyelash Extensions are individual strands of synthetic fibers made to replicate a natural eyelash. When applied, eyelash extensions lengthen and thicken your own natural eyelashes. The single strands are applied to each individual eyelash, one by one. With proper application, lash extensions look and feel completely natural.

Q: How long will a set of Eyelash Extensions last?

  • Eyelash extensions will last the length of the natural growth cycle of your own eyelashes. Depending on your activity and day-to-day routine, refills should only be required every 2 to 4 weeks.

Q: Can I apply mascara to Eyelash Extensions?

  • Our eyelash extensions are designed to give your natural lashes an improved look of fullness so mascara is not needed.

Q: Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit a spa while wearing eyelash extensions?

  • We do ask you to minimize the chance of wetting the extensions for the first 48 hours of wear. After that 48-hour period, the adhesive used to apply your eyelash extensions is secure enough to allow you to get right back to your routine. However, keeping away from extensive contact with steam such as in saunas or certain facials is recommended since it can begin to loosen the bond.

Q: How soon can I wash my face after the extensions are applied?

  • The suggested time frame is 48 hours. For a guest with sensitivities, it is suggested to wash within the first 12 hours of application.

Q: How do I dry my eyelash extensions?

  • After cleansing your eyelashes, brush your extensions with a clean mascara wand and use a lint-free cloth to gently apply pressure to the top of your extensions while keeping your eyes closed.  Using a hand held fan to lightly blow air onto your extensions dries them in no time and helps to keep the shape! After fanning, don’t forget to brush again with a clean mascara wand.

Q: How long will it take to apply eyelash extensions and how is it done?

  • The application process for lash extensions normally takes about 90-120 minutes for a full set of lashes and 45-60 minutes for a refill. You will lay comfortably on a massage table with your eyes closed while relaxing ambient music is played in the background. During application, your lower lashes will be covered and the extensions will be applied only to your upper lashes one at a time.

Q: How do I choose the look I want?

  • Your technician will consult with you to understand what type of style you are interested in and what look will work best with your natural lashes. The overall look of the lashes can range from very natural to very voluminous!

Q: What happens if I choose to have my eyelash extensions removed?

  • We do offer a service to have the extensions removed free of cost if the extentions were applied at Purele. If applied else where we offer the removal for $15.

LASH LIFT FAQ:

Q:What is a Lash Lift?

  • It's a lifting technique designed to give you longer-looking lashes without the need for lash extensions. It will look as if you used a really good eyelash curler, only this lift lasts for 6 to 8 weeks! To top off the treatment, we offer application of black lash tint ($15) which really makes your lashes look more prominent. The procedure takes about 30 to 45 minutes. It really is an easy way to instantly brighten and open up the eye area!

Q:How do I need to prep for the treatment?

  • Please come in make up free. If you wear contacts, they must be removed.

Q:Is this like lash extension where they will look dramatically thicker?

  • Lash extensions and lash lifts are  totally different  services. No additional lashes  are added to your natural lash. Its simply curling your natural lashes. That said, for most, it can make your lashes appear fuller because they are so uplifted.

Q:What are the post treatment instructions?

  • Pretty simple: Do not apply an oil based products to the lashes for the first 24 hours.

Q:Can I book this on the same day as a facial?

  • Absolutely!

Q:Is there any maintenance?

  • None at all! You don't have to do anything special with your lashes in between lifts.

Q:Can I still wear mascara?

  • Of course! You'll just achieve a more dramatic effect when mascara is applied to your curled lashes.

Q:Is it painful?

  • No. At first, when the shields are applied to the eyelids, it may feel a bit strange. But, for the most part, it's very relaxing! You just kick back and relax :)

Q:I use Eyelash serum for lash growth (Lattisse ,Revitalash etc). Can I get this treatment?

  • Yes. Some of the most dramatic results  have been from those using Lash growth serum because their lashes are already so long.

Q:I have downward-pointing lashes, will this be a good treatment for me?

  • OH yes! Anyone with these types of pesky lashes will love the lash lift! Post treatment, your lashes will all be evenly dispersed and lifted.

Q:How long does the effect last?

  • Depending on the length and quality of your natural lashes, the lift can last for 6 to 8 weeks.

Q:I have very very short lashes. Am I able to still do this procedure?

  • Most of the time, yes. Though it can be challenging if the lashes aren't even long enough to bring up and back on to the shield. But we say, give it a shot once and see how you do!

Q:I've recently had eye surgery, can I have this procedure?

  • You need to wait at least 1 year from your surgery. After any surgery  there is an increased sensitivity in the eye area for quite a while. You need to give yourself that time to heal first. After that, you can consult with your physician to be sure.
